Veterans’ virtual careers fair

Veterans and ex-Australian Defence Force members were out in force to discover their next career in public service at the recent Queensland Government’s veterans’ virtual careers fair.

More than 450 veterans from across the state, and Australia, participated in the one-day event held 21 November 2018 specifically tailored for them. They had the chance to:

  • learn about Queensland’s largest employer
  • discover new and diverse career opportunities
  • chat with agency leaders and HR professionals.

As the state’s largest employer, the Queensland Government offers endless career possibilities across 4000+ locations, from the Torres Strait to the Gold Coast; Mount Isa to Brisbane.

We have opportunities in healthcare, engineering, information technology, science, police, emergency services… just to name a few!

And, we offer great rewards and benefits like flexible work, competitive salary, employment security, health and wellbeing programs, and career and development opportunities.

Giving veterans a fair chance at sector-wide employment is a Queensland Government priority—our goal is retention, not just recruitment. It’s about creating an inclusive and diverse workforce that brings together people with a wide range of skills, backgrounds and perspectives.

By joining our team, veterans will continue to be challenged and make a difference, each and every day, to people and communities of Queensland.

We would like to thank everyone involved in making the careers fair a success and will continue to support veterans in recognition of their service and sacrifice to our country.
